Data Centers as Civic Assets
Our digital world runs on data centers, but the communities that host them are too often treated as obstacles rather than neighbors.
We’re developing data centers designed to reflect local priorities, respect community character, and drive local prosperity.
Our approach starts with two promises:
Your voice helps shape what we build.
Your community shares in our profits.
Our goal is to earn your trust by tying our success to yours. Here’s how we put these promises into practice.
Transparency: We don’t sign NDAs with government agencies or hide behind codenames and shell companies. We buy land in our own name and tell sellers what we plan to build.
Listening: We hold regular public meetings, starting early in the design process. Afterwards, we publish what we heard and what we changed.
Stewardship: We design our campuses to protect your community’s resources. Our baseline: wide buffers from homes, with a noise limit at each one; closed-loop cooling that doesn’t evaporate water; no diesel backup generators; and lighting that keeps the night sky dark. We pay the full cost of our power and any grid upgrades needed to deliver it.
Prosperity: We pay full property taxes and never ask for local tax breaks. A share of our profits goes into a resident-controlled community fund. We prioritize local hiring for both construction and permanent roles.
Accountability: We record our commitments with the county so they apply to future owners and tenants. Each year, we publish independently verified data for every project.
With these commitments, we aim to build a civic asset your community will be proud of.
